In 2017 I engaged with glass art and glass blowing at IKA Mechelen.
In the first year we were assigned to create an artpiece based upon the ‘Besloten hofjes’ from 16th century.
I decided to make an interactive artwork with the glass bells I learned to blow. Every bell contains an object that depicts a part of personality. The bells are placed in a round closet with a halfway mirror in front and a common mirror at the back. Normally the internal lights are not lit, so you see a mirror when you approach. However, a distance sensor detects persons who are nearby and switches on the lights. The mirror becomes transparent and you can see the bell mounted on the backside. The inner side on the front now acts as a mirror and reflects all the bells infinitely.
